Welcome To The Workshop

Since opening our online store, JCubbin.com, we’ve been taking on some larger scale work and I thought it would be interesting to share some of our ongoing projects and builds.

Many of these projects, upon completion, will be available for purchase on JCubbin.com. I’ll have a chance to design and cast new original pieces, look at new manufacturers kits, build and maybe bash them just a bit and generally have some fun.

In addition there will be bigger projects like themed operating desktop layouts, it’s always a challenge to create something unique that can fit and accentuate the decor of a room (or a desktop!). I’d like this to become a space for learning, creating and for fun.

All of the pieces I design have a large amount of handwork involved. With all the terrific tools and machines we as model railroaders have available to us, their precision needs to be tempered by the warmth and character of working a piece by hand. It’s a long process and it can be exciting as well as frustrating but ultimately, I feel this process results in pieces that are truly special. That’s why we’re all so invested in our hobby, to create something unique, special.
