Proxxon Hot Wire Circle Cutter
The Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter is one of my favorite tools for model train and scenery work. I knew there were circle cutters available but I didn’t think I’d have a big need for one. A few years back I bought one from the GCmini company, but never got around to even opening the package!
I also have their fence kit for the Proxxon and in my opinion, it’s invaluable. As I’m now doing more very small scenes and dioramas to practice my rock carving in XPS pink foam, I thought going from small squares and rectangles for bases to circles would be a nice change. Now the only thing I wonder is why did I wait do long to do this.
Like their MDF laser cut fence kit, this GCmini circle cutter is made from MDF and very reasonably priced. Each of these Proxxon accessories are, as of October 2025, priced under $20. I think that’s a terrific price for the additional functionality they add to an already great tool, the Proxxon Hot Wire Cutter.
